Mandatory driver license exchange starts
The mandatory exchange of driving licenses is gaining momentum in Saxony. The municipalities expect that the rush will continue to increase until the end of the year, as a dpa survey showed. By 2033, driving licenses issued before January 19, 2013 must be exchanged for new ones that are supposed to be more forgery-proof and have a uniform design in the EU. The drivers, who were born between 1953 and 1958 and who still have a "paper driving license" issued until 1998, make the start and should exchange their papers by January 19, 2022. It is not known how many drivers are affected by the action.
