Chinese Yang wins her first Olympic gold in Tokyo
Tokyo (AP) - The Chinese shooter Qian Yang won the first gold medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in an air rifle over the ten-meter distance.
At the Asaka Shooting Range, she prevailed against the Russian Anastasia Galaschina in the final of the top eight with an Olympic record of 251.8 rings. Third place went to Nina Christen from Switzerland. Jolyn Beer from SV Lochtum missed the final as 17th in the qualification. The Olympic debutante is considered a medal contender in the three-position fight with the small-bore rifle.
